October found us at our favorite fair - The
Sheep and Wool Fair in Rhinebeck, NY. Fall in the mountains of New York State, showing off our sheep, spinning and talking
to visitors for two days. Bliss. I took Darra and Abigail along for the ride and they not only delighted the folks at our
display, but had an opportunity to show their stuff at the newly instituted Breeds Parade. They mingled with the crowd and
got petted over every inch and then went back to their pen for a snack, a drink, and a nap. This was their second trip as
a pair to this fair and they traveled very well. We met many wonderful folks, including 21-month-old Cal Casablancas and his
mom Juliet. Juliet was kind enough to take a picture and send it to me. Cal spent about a half-hour watching me spin, moving
to several positions for different views, and then silently moved on. He has an amazing attention span - I told his mom to
start that college fund now - she will need it !
We had a great time in September at the Garden State Sheep Breeders Show on September 10-11. It was a busy weekend, as we showed
6 lambs, had a Breeds display, AND for the first time tried a vendor's booth. There we went into partnership with 2 friends.
It went well, but it was too, too much at one show. We will be back at a Breeds display next year - after all winning first
place there was a bonus! I wish I could show you a picture of our display, but I was too busy to take pictures. Our babies
did well in showing, with Isaewe taking home a Reserve Champion Ewe ribbon, and the five ram lambs with their assorted ribbons.
One of our crossbred rams went home with a new owner - in the back seat of his car! I visited him later at his new home and
found him happily ensconced in a pen with a new Shetland girlfriend.
